The Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act is landmark worker empowerment, civil rights and social justice legislation that seeks to create a fairer, more just economy by strengthening protections for workers\u2019 right to organize a union and bargain for higher wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions.<\/p>\n

America is in the midst of an unprecedented surge in union organizing and with it, corporations that feel they can break the law and block working people from exercising our rights. We must strengthen our woefully outdated labor laws to protect working people by passing the PRO Act.<\/p>\n

Key provisions of the PRO Act include:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Establishing a mediation process to help management and labor find common ground<\/p>\n

\u2022 Giving the National Labor Relations Board authority to order employers to negotiate in good faith with their workers and enforce penalties to prevent union-busting or deliberate misclassification by bad actors<\/p>\n

\u2022 Eliminating the \u201cright-to-work\u201d (for less) laws of the Jim Crow Era that enable free riders<\/p>\n

\u2022 Banning compulsory \u201ccaptive audience meetings\u201d and use of intimidation as a union-busting tactic<\/p>\n

\u2022 Protecting the right to strike and make it illegal for bosses to fire and replace workers who walk off the job to protest for better conditions<\/p>\n
