{"id":17447,"date":"2024-07-22T11:52:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-22T15:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iatse.net\/?p=17447"},"modified":"2024-07-22T14:04:52","modified_gmt":"2024-07-22T18:04:52","slug":"iatse-general-executive-board-endorses-kamala-harris-for-president-of-the-united-states-expresses-gratitude-to-president-biden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iatse.net\/iatse-general-executive-board-endorses-kamala-harris-for-president-of-the-united-states-expresses-gratitude-to-president-biden\/","title":{"rendered":"IATSE General Executive Board Endorses Kamala Harris for President of the United States, Expresses Gratitude to President Biden"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The IATSE General Executive Board voted unanimously to extend its endorsement to Vice President Kamala Harris for President of the United States on Monday, following President Joe Biden\u2019s decision not to seek reelection and his subsequent full support and endorsement of VP Harris\u2019 candidacy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Biden-Harris White House has been the most pro-union administration in history and Vice President Kamala Harris has played a pivotal role in delivering landmark policies and legislation to benefit IATSE workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her capacity as Vice President, Harris cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate to pass the American Rescue Plan Act, <a href=\"https:\/\/iatse.net\/congress-passes-american-rescue-plan-act-following-biden-proposal-delivers-comprehensive-relief-for-iatse-members\/\">providing IATSE members the pandemic relief they needed<\/a> to pay the bills and stay safe until a return to work was possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As chair of the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment, Vice President Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/iatse.net\/iatse-praises-worker-organizing-and-empowerment-recommendations-by-white-house-task-force\/\">engaged IATSE to provide input on executive actions<\/a> that will increase worker organizing and empowerment in our industries. She then joined President Biden in <a href=\"https:\/\/keyframemagazine.org\/2022\/05\/06\/tag-in-the-white-house\/\">inviting a young IATSE organizer to the White House<\/a> to lift up our organizing successes in animation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden\u2019s legacy as the most effective champion for America\u2019s workers to ever occupy the White House is indisputable,\u201d said IATSE International President Matthew D. Loeb. \u201cHis unrelenting support of IATSE workers and the labor movement cannot be overstated. I\u2019m proud to convey the immense gratitude of the IATSE membership for his lifetime of public service and unparalleled leadership. We honor his decision not to run for reelection and are committed to doing whatever it takes to elect Vice President Kamala Harris this November.
