We must strengthen the federal laws that protect workers\u2019 right to organize a union and bargain for higher wages and better benefits.<\/p><ul><li>Pass the Richard L. W-2 workers lost the ability to deduct expenses, often significant, like our equipment, travel for work, and even union dues. This meant an industrywide tax increase for many working class, union entertainment workers.<\/p><ul><li>Pass the Performing Artist Tax Parity Act (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/house-bill\/721\">H.R. 721<\/a> \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/senate-bill\/1121\">S. 1121<\/a>) to restore the tax deductibility of necessary equipment and work expenses in the entertainment industry<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Pass the Tax Fairness for Workers Act (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/house-bill\/2671\">H.R. 2671<\/a> \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/senate-bill\/1286\">S. 1286<\/a>) to restore the tax deductibility of union dues\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-e2a8b03 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"e2a8b03\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-59eae57\" data-id=\"59eae57\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1695755 elementor-view-default elementor-widget elementor-widget-icon\" data-id=\"1695755\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"icon.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon\">\n\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-file-invoice-dollar\"><\/i>\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1ee2f2a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1ee2f2a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Implement a federal film and television production tax incentive to keep jobs in the U.S.<\/h4><p>The American film and television industry \u2013 a vital economic driver and job creator \u2013 faces unprecedented threats from international competition. Foreign countries have escalated their tax incentive and subsidy structures to lure film and television productions, and the multitude of jobs they create, from the United States.<\/p><p>Films intended for initial release in the U.S. are increasingly being shot overseas, costing American jobs and economic benefits. Comparing 2024 and 2022, IATSE members lost the equivalent of 16,000 full-time jobs year-over-year. Federal policymakers must act to level the playing field and make U.S. more competitive, either through a federal incentive or other measures to spur domestic production.<\/p><ul><li>Pass a labor-based federal production tax incentive to keep film and television made in America<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Pass the Creative Relief and Expensing for Artistic Entertainment (CREATE) Act (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/house-bill\/4840\">H.R. 4840<\/a> \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/senate-bill\/2530\">S. 2530<\/a>) to extend and expand Section 181 expensing<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-01b2f88 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"01b2f88\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-7554978\" data-id=\"7554978\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ab94bb7 elementor-view-default elementor-widget elementor-widget-icon\" data-id=\"ab94bb7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"icon.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon\">\n\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-brain\"><\/i>\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9d6cc3d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9d6cc3d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>Establish safeguards to ensure the fair and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools<\/h4><p>Absent safeguards to ensure consent, compensation, and credit for the use of copyrighted works and intellectual property (IP), and appropriate transparency of training sets, Generative AI will be used as a sophisticated, deceptive tool for content theft.
